Regular Meeting: August 4, 2015 Woodford County Courthouse
Present: Misty Gonzales, Donald Morton, Helen Rentch, Lauren Graves,
Dan Brown, Marilyn Daniels, Shelia Harris. Guest: Peggy Seales
Absent: Lonnie Jackson, Gayle Franklin
Meeting called to order by Chair Misty Gonzales.
Minutes of June 4 read and approved. A formal meeting was not held in July due to lack of a quorum. Traditionally there is no July meeting.
Treasure’s Report: Balance $3009.80
$250 received from the City of Versailles
$250 + $35: expenses r/t Twilight Festival
Motion approved to reimburse $45 expended by Shelia Harris for 3 $15 gift cards for the “PEP” event at WoodFord County High School.
Motion approved to purchase magnetized cards with the Commissions contact information to be available at the Twilight Festival.
No new correspondence.
No further development on previous church related concern due to no first hand complaint brought forth.
The complaint related to Family Court has again been forwarded to the State HRC.
Education Co. Report presented by Peggy Seals.
Motion approved to continue support for the Scholarship project and to explore opportunities for fundraising and enhancement.
Report by Shelia Harris on the Parental Enhancement Project event at Woodford Co. High School.
Decision made to request Garret Wells to attend our October meeting to explore school system matters related to “Closing the Gap”.
Fairness Co. report by Dan Brown. A presentation to the Versailles City Council will be proposed for October 6 and to the Ministerial Association on 10/7.
Twilight Festival:
Fairness brochure reviewed. Will be finalized by Marilyn and Misty. Motion approved to purchase brochures, magnets and bags for the Festival at a cost not greater than $500.
Dan and Donald will co-ordinate the schedule and set-up/breakdown.
Attendance policy/by-laws reviewed. Helen will contact Gayle Franklin and Lonnie Jackson with regard to their continued participation on the Commission.
Open records: Marilyn continuing to try to get clarity on this. In the meanwhile any official letters should be posted (forwarded) to the official email site.
We will ask the Cities and County to link to our website.
