Regular Meeting Fiscal Courtroom, Woodford County Courthouse 6:30 P.M.
Present: Donald Morton, Mary Nehring, Sherry Brown, Kyle Fannin, Darlene Jackson, Daniel Brown
Absent: Mary Raglin, Annete Muniz, Bruce Batman
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. by Donald Morton. Donald Morton verbally resigned from the Commission. D. Brown, Secretary, conducted the meeting.
Approval of the Agenda: Nehring and S. Brown made motions to amend the agenda and motion passed.

Education (Scholarship Committee): No Report
Fairness Ordinance Committee: With the upcoming Versailles City Council election, D. Brown is hopeful the Fairness Ordinance might receive more support and become an item on the Council’s agenda.
Imagination Library Book Program: D. Brown reported that he is waiting on the start of the 2018-2019 school year, and after Labor Day to move forward with registration.
Twilight Festival 2018: D. Brown provided pertinent information regarding the upcoming festival. Nehring and S. Brown made motions to approve the $75 application fee, and motion passed. Writing pens with HRC information printed on pens was discussed. Fannin agreed to order pens. Nehring and D. Brown made motions to approve up to $150 for the purchase of as many writing pens as possible.
Midway Fall Festival 2018: D. Brown reported that the Midway Fall Festival 2017 attracted few local citizens. After discussion, the Commission agreed to not participate in the Midway Fall Festival 2018 and investigate other Midway venues which might attract more local citizens as well as provide opportunities to distribute HRC information. The Commission agreed for D. Brown to contact M. Raglin and Mayor Vandegrift regarding such events.
Woodford Pride 2018: M. Nehring reported regarding the 2018 Pride Picnic noting attendance was about the same as last year although the location was changed to Big Spring Park in Versailles. D. Brown noted that he worked the HRC booth and engaged about a dozen individuals in conversations regarding the HRC especially many Woodford County High School students.
Complaint Intake and Protocol: D. Brown discussed complaint intake and protocol after a complaint has been received. D. Brown noted that the Commission acts as a decision-making body when a complaint is received in order to determine next steps. When a complaint is received the officers are to be notified immediately and if a meeting date is not near, a special call meeting will be called to discuss the complaint. Item was also placed on August 2018 agenda for discussion.
Attendance: D. Brown provided copies of the current HRC By-Laws regarding attendance information. The By-Laws state that 65% attendance is required which is the same as 4 out of 6 meetings held annually. Item was also placed on August 2018 agenda for discussion.
Officers: D. Brown noted that all officer terms expire December 31, 2018. M. Nehring volunteered to serve as Vice-Chair until the end of the 2018 term. She was unanimously elected. It was noted that D. Morton’s vacancy will need to be filled (expires 11-18-19) and a Chair elected at the August 2018 meeting.
Next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the Fiscal Courtroom of the Woodford County Courthouse.
