OLD BUSINESS:
Possibly look into being at the Midway Fall Festival again. Unsure about this as the last time the commission was not in a place that got a lot of traffic.
Update cards and brochures as they have outdated information on them. Elizabeth Turley will work on this With Kyle Fannin. They will let the commission know if they feel they are ready to print these before the next meeting so that it can be voted on.
NEW BUSINESS:
There is a question about our PO box. We have a box that is 1733 that Kyle Fannin has a key to, but we also may have a PO box that is 101, and no one has a key to this one. Tim will check with the post office to see if the mailbox key he has fits the 1733 box.
March training comments: Several commissioners said that they like the fact that we can be pro-active with our Human Rights mission. Discussed possibly doing a community forum at our next meeting. Tim will look into putting an ad in the Woodford Sun for two weeks to promote this. Motion was made by Elizabeth Turley to have the meeting at Big Spring Park pavilion if it is available and to have some refreshments at the meeting (up to $350) Kyle Fannin seconded this. Motion passed.
Discussed setting up booths at the Juneteenth festival that is being planned. Also discussed setting up booths at the Twilight festival and the Versailles block parties. Cindy Batts will check into what is needed for the Juneteenth festival and report back to the group.
Tim to call Judge’s office to see if there is a phone there that we need to check as a few commissioners have been told that there might be.
Discussed developing a Facebook page and/or Instagram for dissemination of information to help people know who we are and why we are here.
NEXT MEETING: June 3, 2021 6:30 PM at Big Spring Park
Motion for adjournment was made by Cindy Batts and seconded by Darlene Jackson. Motion passed.
Respectfully submitted,
Cindy Batts
