Minutes of Meeting
Date: February 6, 2020
The regular Bi-monthly meeting of the Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Human Rights Commission, held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 and was called to order at 6:30pm by Commission Chairperson Mary Nehring.
Commission members present were: Jorge Espinoza, Kyle Fannin, Darlene Jackson, Tim Middleton, Mary Nehring, Elizabeth Turley, Tristin Ferrell and Mary Raglin.
Commission member absent was ______NONE____________________________________________.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion was made by Tim Middletown and seconded by Kyle Fannin for approval of the agenda as presented. Motion passed.
TREASURER REPORT:
We need to reimburse Dan Brown for the website ( $72.00 AND $168) TOTAL $240. Mary Nehring made motion to pay $240 back and Tim Middleton seconded the motion.
Old Business:
a. Mary Raglin and Tristin Ferrell will be checking the website for any complaints.
b. Still looking for a place to store bins, tent and banner
c. Pens/Bags….have they been ordered??? Kyle will order bags but we have plenty of pens
d. Amount collected for next year’s scholarship $2,650 at the breakfast and $2,908 after the breakfast by Peggy Carter Seal. We are on our way to being able to award three scholarships. Kyle suggested to have a recipient awarded yearly w/scholarship
e. Still working on Spanish version translation of the Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Human Rights Commission brochure.
New Business:
a. Fairness Ordinance was passed for Woodford County. What does this mean for us? It was suggested that Allen George and Marilyn Daniels provide us with training on the subject matter at our April meeting.
b. Mary Nehring and Libbie Turley discussed our new complaint which was a child custody issue and nothing for the WCHR to be involved in.
c. A letter will be drafted to Allison Richardson advising her WCHR will be going before the school board about the bylaws of social media.
d. Video conferencing is allowed as per Libby Turley’s research. How do we go about this? It was suggested that there are dozens of avenues to use for video conferencing and we will be discussing this further.
e. New appearances scheduled for WCHR:
a. Block Parties; Mid-Summer Nights in Midway; Big Spring Bottom 80th Anniversary
Tim Middleton made motion to adjourn. Kyle Fanning seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:40pm.
