Minutes of Meeting
Date: October 3, 2019
The regular Bi-monthly meeting of the Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Human Rights Commission, held on Thursday, October 3, 2019, was called to order at 6:30pm by Commission Chairperson Mary Nehring.
Commission members present were: Dan Brown, Jorge Espinoza, Kyle Fannin, Darlene Jackson, Tim Middleton, Mary Nehring, Elizabeth Turley, Tristin Ferrell and Mary Raglin.
Commission member absent was ______NONE____________________________________________.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Motion was made by Dan Brown and seconded by Tim for approval of the agenda as presented. Motion passed.
Comments/Questions from Members of the public _Ms. Peggy Carter Seal told us about how the Scholarship Committee was first started in 2013. Job Fairs to search for minority teachers was to no avail so the scholarship was formed. She partnered with the WC 2Roots & Heritage Committee, Inc. She asked to continue to chair the Scholarship Committee who gives $1,000 scholarships to the chosen student._Motion was made for Peggy Seals to continue to chair the Scholarship Committee. A suggestion was made that after the MLK Breakfast to give an amount of funds raised and to let folks know the application to apply is online at Woodford County High School. Any amount of donation is acceptable to the Scholarship Committee. Tim Middleton (873-7879) and Darlene Jackson both volunteered to be a part of the committee.______________________________________
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Motion was made by _Dan and seconded by _Tim for the approval of the minutes with corrections of the August 1, 2019 meeting. The motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Report was distributed by our treasurer Kyle Fannin. There is a balance in the checking account _____________________. Imagination Library account of ______________________.

OLD BUSINESS:
Find a storage place for 2 blue tubs, tent and banner was put on hold.__________________________________________________________________________________Richardson/Miller Special Meeting and Mediation. Allison Richardson and ESL Teacher Ms. Miller.
From the meeting an agreement was made for Allison Richardson to send a “heartfelt” apology to the Woodford Sun but as of our Oct 3 meeting it had not been done. Mary N. will email her after fall break to remind her of her agreement.

(1) Mary N. advised that the Fairness Ordinance has passed in Versailles by 3-2_
__________________________________________________________________________________ (2) Hang the banner at the courthouse stairs for World Human Rights Day, December 10, 2019….hopefully can hang for however long.

(4) Continue discussion of having meetings at City Hall…Available Parking????
(5) Farewell to Dan Brown (I don’t think we did enough).
